[A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, Oct. 6, 1936.] [Class 39 (iii)] A rubber coating 11 encircling a metallic member which may be a printing roller 16 is vulcanized by subjecting the roller to an alternating magnetic field and applying external heat by carrying out the process in an autoclave 16 supplied with steam or by means of resistance heat developed in the coil 13 creating the magnetic field. Conductive substances may be arranged in the rubber. A layer of hard rubber may be arranged between the coating and the roller. When a cooling fluid is admitted to the autoclave the pressure is maintained therein. The magnetic field is preferably of high frequency but the resistance heating is effected by low frequency or direct current. According to the Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 the roller is arranged between the poles of an electromagnet to effect the vulcanization. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted. |
