PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for controlling the positioning in a segment interval adjusting device with which the precision of the positioning can be improved and the working time of the positioning can be shortened. SOLUTION: In the positioning controlling method in the segment interval adjusting device in a continuous casting facility, in the case of being the difference between the present position and the target position at smaller than the sum of an inertia moving distance at the closing operation and the minimum movable distance at the closing operation, after performing the opening operation till becoming larger than the sum of the inertia moving distance at the closing operation and the minimum movable distance at the closing operation, the positioning is performed with the closing operation.
