PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hand type brush cutter designed to safely and simply perform mowing operation at a uniform height without requiring skill and easily masterable even in a place where the ground surface is greatly uneven. SOLUTION: The hand brush cutter comprises a blade height setter 38 equipped with a sphere 100 rolling on the ground surface G, a hemispherical shell-like receiving member 102 forming a gap S between the plurality of small spheres 101 freely rollingly holding the sphere 100 and the spherical upper half part of the sphere 100 and holding a plurality of small spheres 101 at the gap S and an annular frame part 106 for scraping arranged parallel to the lower end edge 112 of the hemispherical shell-like receiving member 102 and at a prescribed interval from the lower end edge 112. The annular frame part 106 for scraping is arranged in a state thereof adjacent to the surface 117 so as to scrape impurities 113 sticking to the surface 117 of the sphere 100 and forms a window part W for removing the impurities between the annular part 106 and the lower end edge 112 of the hemispherical shell-like receiving member 102.
