<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the convenience, reduce costs, and improve the mechanical reliability of a memory card. <P>SOLUTION: A memory card 1 equipped with a flash memory 2 and a CPU 3 is provided with a light emitting diode 4 for obtaining electromotive force functioning as a power source and a light emitting diode 5 for communication. The light emitting diode 4 for electromotive force of the memory card 1 faces a light emitting diode 21 for power supply of a reader/writer device 16 for the memory card, and a light emitting diode 5 for communication of the memory card 1 faces a light emitting diode 22 for communication of a reader/writer device 16 for the memory card. When the light emitting diode 21 for power supply emits light, the light emitting diode 4 for electromotive force which has received the light generates power, and supplies the power to the flash memory 2 and the CPU 3 as a power source.
