An automatic locking catch for securing the tilting seat back for the rear seat of a vehicle has a lock housing (3) secured to the side of the seat back frame (1) by threaded fasteners (4, 5) and containing a pivot mounted locking catch and a securing catch which secures the locking catch in the locking position. The invention describes an improved design of locking and securing catch with an overlapping alignment to provide enhanced lateral strength, e.g. to provide improved crash support.
