PLAYER AND CONTENTS REPRODUCING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact player wherein it is not necessary to copy contents stored in an information storage medium into another information storage medium and a plurality of recording/reproducing device are not necessary for copying the contents. SOLUTION: An information storage medium 2 is constituted of: at least one core layer; at least two clad layers arranged to interpose the core layer; and at least one diffraction grating layer disposed in a boundary between the core layer and the clad layer or in the core layer. A player 3 is provided with: a driving section 4 having the function of reproducing contents stored in the diffraction grating layer of the information storage medium 2 and designed to access the contents stored in the information storage medium 2; a storage memory section 5; and a control section 6 for controlling the driving of the driving section 4 and storage memory section 5 and the reproduction of the contents stored in the information storage medium 2.
