PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the efficiency of electrolytic cleaning of a mold to be cleaned. SOLUTION: The mold cleaning device is provided with a cleaning tank 12 for storing an electrolytic cleaning liquid 30, a metal holding tool 19 for holding a mold 5 to be cleaned and for immersing it in the cleaning tank 12, and an electrode 29 which is suspended in the cleaning tank 12 so as to face the mold 5 held by the holding tool 19. The electrolytic cleaning of the mold 5 is executed by the energization via the electrolytic cleaning liquid 30 by connecting the electrode 29 and the holding tool 19 to the positive side and the negative side, respectively, of the power supply. A site except the side wherein the mold 5 held by the holding tool 19 faces the electrode 29 is surrounded by a current-direction-regulating cover 20 made of an insulating material or a metal having an oxidized coating film or an insulating coating film. An alkali solution prepared by mixing an alkali component into tap water purified by filtration, distillation and/or through an ion-exchange resin is used as the electrolytic cleaning liquid to be poured into the cleaning tank.
