FIELD: radio engineering; antenna engineering; communication and radar antennas. ^ SUBSTANCE: proposed antenna designed for broad-band circular beam scanning primarily in extremely high and superhigh frequency bands has homogeneous toroidal dielectric lens formed due to rotation of aplanatic focusing geometric profile about axis; slotted-guide radiator incorporating short-circuited section of round waveguide and changeable waveguide slots disposed about axis of revolution on focal circumference of lens and coaxial circumferences; shorting device in the form of controlled reflecting phase shifter. Scanning is effected by alternate electronic switching-over of slots with aid of switching diodes supplied with control voltage over control line. Number of slots in azimuth plane corresponds to discrete position of antenna directivity pattern in azimuth plane and number of slot rows corresponds to number of discrete positions of antenna directivity pattern in elevation plane. So antenna affords electronic scanning by means of its toroidal dielectric lens both in azimuth and elevation planes. Maximal radiation of electromagnetic energy from slot and, hence, maximal gain of antenna is attained by engaging slot in radiation at the same time setting wave antinode maximum of phase shifter in center of slot. ^ EFFECT: maximized radiation of electromagnetic energy from slot which maximizes antenna gain. ^ 1 cl, 4 dwg |
