PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk drive that is improved to load various sizes and kinds of disks by separating the disk fixing mechanism from the spindle motor turning the disk and providing it on the tray. SOLUTION: This optical disk drive has a main body on which a spindle motor is attached, a tray which is free loaded/unloaded on the main body, and a disk holder which is turnably mounted on the tray and engaged with a clamping hole of the disk to fix the disk and which is turned by the spindle motor when the tray is at the loading position. By this set up, it loads various sizes and kinds of disks such as fashion disks by fixing the disk to the disk holder and maintaining the position of the disk relative to the spindle motor. Further, this optical disk drive can reliably load various kinds of disks even when the drive is placed and used vertically. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI
