摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide technology to immediately recover from S-poisoning while controlling consumption quantity of reducing agent in S-poisoning recovering process after interruption of process in a middle of S-poisoning recovery in an exhaust emission control system for an internal combustion engine. <P>SOLUTION: This exhaust emission control system for the internal combustion engine is provided with NOx catalyst, a reducing agent supplying means, a heating means for the NOx catalyst, and a S-poisoning recovering means. When S-poisoning recovery is carried out again after the process is interrupted in the middle of S-poisoning recovery, temperature of the NOx catalyst, concentration of reducing agent or oxygen introduced in the NOx catalyst to be targets at a time of start of S-poisoning recovery start are determined based on history of previous S-poisoning recovering process which is interrupted. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI
