PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for effectively detecting the single fiber breakage during a fiber manufacturing process, and to provide a management method and apparatus for detecting the abnormal operation of the process, finding out the abnormal part by using the detection method and apparatus and enabling the optimization of the treating conditions in the process. SOLUTION: In the detection method and apparatus, a broken single fiber is protruded as a fluff from a traveling thread in a fiber manufacturing process and the protruded fluff is remotely detected by a fluff detecting means. The management method and apparatus counts and totals the number of detected fluffs by a data processing means, checks the normal operation of the fiber manufacturing process and optimizes various manufacturing conditions.
