<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a patient positioning device fit for radiation therapy. <P>SOLUTION: In this index system, the patient positioning device comprises a table for supporting a patient and this table has both side faces equipped with a positive pattern index projection extending outside along each side edge of the table. In addition, in this index system, a locking bar is extended so as to cross the table and this locking bar has at both edges a negative pattern recess to be engaged in a locking condition with opposing twin projections on the side edge of the table.
