PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce cogging torque, improve magnetic characteristics, and decrease the number of kinds of components for a lower cost. SOLUTION: A field magnetic piece 20 has field magnetic poles 21 alternately arranged at constant intervals in circumferential direction. A pair of magnetic members 11 and 11 have claw poles 13 and 13', which are arranged at constant pitches to face the field magnetic pole 21, alternately and magnetically coupled, while mutually combined, to an almost ring-like yoke 12 at the end part in axial direction. A plurality of phase units composed of them as well as a coil for magnetizing the magnetic member are combined coaxially while the positions of the claw poles relative to the field magnetic pole 21 sequentially displaces in circumferential direction among the phase units, to constitute an armature 10. The coil of each phase is applied with a current so that the field magnetic piece 20 rotates relative to the armature 10. The claw poles 13 and 13' have such three dimensional shape as the distance from the field magnetic pole 21 becomes larger as advances toward both ends in circumferential direction.
