PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cam shaft restraining an increase in man-hour and cost due to an increase in process, keeping the surface roughness of a cam face of a cam piece uniform, and restraining a lag in the opening and closing timing of an intake and exhaust valve. SOLUTION: This cam shaft includes: a cam shaft extended in the axial direction; and a plurality of deformed cam pieces disposed at spaces in the axial direction of the cam shaft. Outer peripheral surfaces of the cam pieces are subjected to grinding. This cam shaft dispenses with a positioning reference part such as a positioning hole or a cutout formed at the end of the cam shaft.
