NICKEL POWDER WITH EXCELLENT SINTERABILITY, AND ITS PRODUCTION METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide nickel powder having excellent sinterability and used for conductive paste e.g. for forming an internal electrode for multilayer ceramic capacitor and also to provide its production method. SOLUTION: The nickel powder has a surface coated with sulfur or sulfate group in an amount of 0.02 to 0.20wt.% expressed in terms of sulfur. The nickel powder can be produced by subjecting nickel powder to contact treatment with gas containing sulfur in the form of hydride and/or oxide in an amount of 0.02 to 0.30 wt.% based on the nickel powder.
