PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve high frequency characteristics by decreasing eddy current loss in a magnetic layer forming the magnetic path of an induction type magnetic conversion element without preventing passing of magnetic fluxes. SOLUTION: A thin film magnetic head is provided with a reproducing head and a recording head. The recording head has a lower part magnetic pole layer and an upper part magnetic pole layer 13 which include magnetic pole parts and face each other across a recording gap layer 12, and a thin film coil 10 arranged between them in an insulted state. The upper part magnetic pole 13 is constituted of a plurality of laminated magnetic material layers 13a-13c and resistance layers 21, 22 arranged between adjacent two magnetic material layers. The resistance layers 21, 22 are arranged at a part of a region excluding the near part of a connection part to a magnetic pole part 13A and the near part of a connection part to the lower part magnetic pole layer.
