PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a component element for a chain usable for tenter clips, and chains for other applications, in which penetration of oil or dust between a cylindrical roller of a roller link and a connection pin can be prevented, in which rotation defective due to invasion of them can be restricted to extend service life, and in which maintenance costs can be reduced. SOLUTION: This component element for a chain comprises a roller link 1, a pin link 8 to connect two roller links 1 to each other, and a connection pin 5 to journal the roller link 1 to the pin link 8. At an upper and a lower part of an inner circumferential surface of the roller 3 in the roller link 1, O-rings 6 to be tightly applied to an outer circumferential surface of the connection pin 5 are engaged.
