PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify editing operation requiring applying of the editing information when letters are embroidered and to make it possible to securely perform the editing operation without forgetting. SOLUTION: Letters representing a family name are input by a keyboard 7 or a bar code reader 14 (S11). Default editing information is mapped to each letter (S12). Search is preformed so as to determine whether the input letters are registered in editing information storage (S13-S19). If the input letters are registered in the editing information storage (S19: Yes), a background color of a CRT display 10 is changed (S 20).
