PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device for a continuously variable transmission capable of changing a speed change map when heating the interior in a vehicle has priority to heat the interior using engine cooling water for a heat source. SOLUTION: Power of an engine 1 is transmitted through a continuously variable transmission 2 to drive wheels 4a and 4b, while heating the interior is conducted using cooling water for the engine 1 as a heat source in the vehicle. When heating operation members 6 and 7 are set at predetermined positions, a speed change pattern for the optimum fuel consumption is changed to increase engine speed, and engine speed is determined to correspond to detected acceleration pedal operation quantity and detected car speed based on the speed change pattern after change. The gear ratio of the continuously variable transmission 2 is controlled to realize the engine speed. When a temperature rise rate of engine cooling water is less than a prescribed value, a speed change pattern for the optimum fuel consumption is changed to increase engine speed, and engine speed is determined to correspond to detected acceleration pedal operation quantity and detected car speed based on the speed change pattern after change.
