PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To arithmetically operate the air volume in a cylinder without using suction air volume data with a sign in detecting the suction air volume by an air flowmeter with the backflow detecting function. SOLUTION: A translation table is set by shifting a correlation between detecting voltage Us and the suction air volume by a backflow area of the air flowmeter, and the detecting voltage Us is wholly converted into the suction air volume of a following current by using the translation table. Next, a sign flag is set by discriminating the following current/a backflow by subtracting an offset quantity from the suction air volume, and a basic fuel injection quantity Tp is arithmetically operated from absolute value of a subtraction result. When weightedly averaging the basic fuel injection quantity Tp, an operation expression is switched on the basis of the sign flag, and in the backflow, an weighted average value TpA is arithmetically operated by multiplying the newest basic fuel injection quantity Tp by -1.
