摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to obtain image data which are closer to the image data picked up with an image pickup means of high resolution as image data compared to those of the image pickup device of conventional techniques when trying to obtain the image data of high resolution by using a plurality of image pickup means. SOLUTION: The device is provided with processing for setting a reference focus point distance and processing for controlling the focus point distance of each image pickup means depending on the reference focus point distance. The focus point distances of the respective image pickup means are controlled so that the focus planes of respective image pickup means cross the focus plane common to the entire image pickup device or the focus planes of the respective adjacent image pickup means cross one another. Thus, such problems of the conventional image pickup device equipped with the plurality of image pickup means are solved that: because each image pickup means individually determines its own focus point distance, the degree of blur of a subject differs greatly from images picked up by using a single image pickup means of high resolution and a sense of incongruity is caused when the image data picked up by the respective image pickup means are combined to obtain final image data; and that the degree of blur of the subject in the vicinity of a joint differs greatly and the picture quality deterioration of the synththyzed image data is caused when the image data are combined.
