<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink jet recording medium of which the printing quality at the time of ink jet printing is good, and in addition, which has a sufficient surface strength for offset printing as well. <P>SOLUTION: For this ink jet recording medium, an ink accepting layer containing at least a pigment and a binding agent is provided on either one of the surfaces of a supporting body. The ink accepting layer contains a synthetic silica of which the oil absorption amount is 150 ml/100g or higher, and a calcium carbonate of which the average particle size is from 0.1 μm to 0.5 μm, and of which the BET specific surface area is 15 m<SP>2</SP>/g to 60 m<SP>2</SP>/g in such a manner that the weight ratio of the synthetic amorphous silica and the calcium carbonate may become 80:20 to 35:65. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
