PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid-state laser device which can remarkably suppress a spike parasitic oscillation and can prevent an optical damage to optical members at a point where the laser power density is high, and also to provide a method of designing the same. SOLUTION: The solid-state laser device is provided with a laser oscillator 10 and a laser amplifier 20. The laser oscillator 10 consists of a rear mirror 11, a partial reflection mirror 12, and M optical amplifiers P1-P9 which are arranged in a column between the rear mirror 11 and the partial reflection mirror 12, while the laser amplifier 20 consists of N optical amplifiers Q1-Q5 arranged in a column. N, which is the number of the optical amplifiers in the laser amplifier 20 is smaller than M, which is the number of the optical amplifiers in the laser oscillator 10, resulting in the total gain G2 of the laser amplifier 20 being smaller than the total gain G1 of the laser oscillator 10.
