PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a temperature sensor for a rechargeable battery detecting the surface temperature by fitting the temperature sensor to each rechargeable battery, accurately detecting the surface temperature of the rechargeable battery independent of surrounding temperature, and to provide a method of manufacturing the temperature sensor. SOLUTION: The method of manufacturing the temperature sensor for the rechargeable battery comprises a process in which the end part of a narrow width metal plate extending from the inside of a doughnut-like metal plate having the outer diameter almost equal to the thickness of the rechargeable battery and the inner diameter larger than a projecting part of a positive electrode of the rechargeable battery and one electrode of a heat-sensitive element are electrically connected, and an drawing metal plate is connected to the other electrode of the heat-sensitive element; a process in which a doughnut-like insulating base plate having almost the same shape as the doughnut-like metal plate is piled up on the doughnut-like metal plate, the narrow width metal plate is folded back, the drawing metal plate connected to the other electrode of the heat-sensitive element is drawn in the outside direction of the doughnut-like insulating base plate; and a process in which protecting insulating plate having almost the same shape as the doughnut-like insulating base plate having a window part formed in a part where the heat-sensitive element positions is fixed so as to be piled up on the doughnut-like insulating base plate.
