PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydraulic elevator device that is simplified, decreases cost of maintenance and facility, and saves energy. SOLUTION: The energy saving type hydraulic elevator device goes up by supplying pressure oil from a pressure source of an actuator for pressure accumulation to a lifting cylinder for lifting a cage for loading a person and/or a load, or goes down by discharging the pressure oil of the lifting cylinder. In this energy saving type hydraulic elevator device, a balance weight for the cage corresponding to the cage weight is attached to a cylinder tube of the lifting cylinder and connected to the cage through a wire rope, the pressure oil of the actuator for pressure accumulation is supplied to the lifting cylinder to lift the cage via the cylinder tube and the wire rope, and the pressure oil is accumulated in the actuator by a hydraulic pump at both lifting up and down times of at least the cage.
