PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an attenuator in which the bending resistance of the entire damping top is improved, the durability of a threaded shaft part is improved, the appearance and safety of a building is maintained, and maintenance for dirts or dust is improved. SOLUTION: The attenuator comprises first and second connection members that are mutually connected for relative displacement. The first connection member comprises a first rod where a guide threaded part is formed at least on its connection side, a guide nut which engages with the guide threaded part and is pivoted to rotate/slide on the guide threaded part based on the displacement relative to the guide threaded part, and a cylindrical rotor which is larger in diameter than the first rod while much longer in axial direction than the diameter, and is inserted for rotation/sliding through the guide nut. The second connection member is composed of a cylindrical casing that stores the cylindrical rotor and the guide nut. An outer-peripheral cylindrical casing is connected to the first connection member and whose aperture for containing the first rod and the cylindrical casing is larger than the cylindrical casing.
