<p>The invention relates to a method for controlling vehicle speed at a vehicle speed below a given speed limit, whereby a set speed is determined from the position of a vehicle speed controller and, on exceeding the set speed, an automatic engagement of the vehicle brake is activated. Said method aids the driver of a vehicle, in particular on maneuvering or on driving off-road, whereby the driver can delicately drive the vehicle by merely operating said vehicle speed controller. A device (100), for carrying out said method, comprises a control unit (110), a position sensor (130), connected to said control unit (110), for determining the position of the vehicle speed controller (G), a vehicle speed sensor (150), connected to the control unit (110) and at least one vehicle brake (180a-180d), connected to the control unit (110) in a such a manner as to be controlled thereby. The control unit (110) is embodied such as to control activation of the at least one vehicle brake (180a-180d) itself, at a vehicle speed which is lower than a given speed limit and which exceeds a set speed determined from the position of the vehicle speed controller (G), as measured by the position sensor (130).</p> |
