The lock for a motor vehicle operates in normal and emergency damaged mode. A first motor opens the lock in normal mode, but in damaged mode, a second motor engages a mechanical linkage for opening the lock. The motor then does not have to be of high power to cope with a potentially damaged lock mechanism. The lock for a motor vehicle is opened in normal operating mode by an electric motor (28). In damaged mode, however, the mechanical opening system is engaged. The motor (28) ensuring the electric opening of the lock is suitable sized for opening the lock in normal operating mode, but it is not over-sized in order to carry out the opening operating in damaged mode. When then opening of the lock is to be achieved mechanically in damaged mode, a low power emergency motor (44) ensures the engagement of the mechanical linkage. The power of the electric motor actuating the lock in normal mode is less than 100W, and preferably less than 80W. The motor engaging the mechanical linkage has a power of less than equal to 10W.
|
