PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify the operation in picking up an image by realizing the automatic switching of image pickup modes in a mobile terminal equipped with an imaging unit. SOLUTION: A cellular phone 1 equipped with the imaging unit 16 having an imaging device 20 having a photoelectric conversion part 21, and a lens part 32 forming a subject image on the conversion part 21 is equipped with a plate member 110 having a short-range image pickup optical member 100 capable of realizing short-range image pickup by the imaging unit 16, a plate member moving mechanism positioning the optical member 100 on the optical axis of the imaging unit 16 by moving the member 110 nearly perpendicularly to the optical axis of the imaging unit 16, and a CPU 11a automatically switching the image pickup mode from an ordinary image pickup mode for performing ordinary image pickup to a short-range image pickup mode for performing short-range image pickup by driving and controlling the plate member moving mechanism on the basis of image data acquired by the imaging unit 16.
