PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform uniform and stable clinching operation by regulating the forward movement of a clincher guide 18 to eliminate a binding failure such as dispersion of clinched shape. SOLUTION: This stapler 1 is composed of: a clincher 16 supporting a magazine part 2 and a clincher arm 5 provided with a clincher part 4 for bending staple legs, rotatably at the respective rear end parts and carrying out bending molding of the staple legs by the clincher part; a clincher guide 18 movable between an upper position and a lower position; and a sliding member 19 for holding the clincher guide in the upper position when the sliding member is located in a front position while allowing the clincher guide to move downward when located in a rear position, thus bending the staple legs which have passed through bound paper.
