PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a virus detection system, method and program for detecting viruses according to virus definition information set by users. SOLUTION: A virus definition setting part 1 inputs user-set virus definition information from a user input screen being displayed, and stores the input user-set virus definition information in a virus definition information storage area 2. When a condition where viruses may be detected is generated by the operation of a telephone function or a mail function, a virus detecting process part 3 obtains the user-set virus definition information from the virus definition information storage area 2, determines if a virus is detected within the data to be scanned for viruses, according to the user-set virus definition information obtained and, if a virus is detected, operates for virus detection (deleting the data to be scanned, reporting the detection of the virus to users, and the like).
