PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a magnetic particle powder having improved magnetic characteristics and particularly large coercive force with the micronization of a spinel type ferrimagnetic particle. SOLUTION: The spinel type ferrimegnetic fine particle powder consisting essentially of cobalt and nickel has a compositional formula expressed by (CoO)x(NiO)y-n/2Fe2O3(compositional formula CoxNiyFe2O4) where the ratio of Fe to (Co+Ni) is 3.0>Fe/(Co+Ni)>2.0, x>0, y>0 and x+y=1.
