<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image selection device which improves identification property of an ROI image accompanying the entire image and relates the ROI image to the entire image to simultaneously display both images in displaying the ROI image and enables an operator to surely and easily select a desired image when the operator selects the image. <P>SOLUTION: An imaging unit is provided with a camera part 101 for acquiring an image, an ROI control part 106 for designating an ROI, a compressing and decompressing part 105 for compressing the designated ROI and an undesignated area by respectively different characteristics, an image display part 110 for displaying a compressed image on a screen, a key operating part 112 for selecting an image from the screen with the image displayed thereon or selecting an ROI in the image, and a recording part 107 for storing the image.
