The internal combustion engine (2) has a fuel cell system (1) supplied with pre-compressed air (6) and a compressor (4) for pre-compressing supercharging air (7) for the internal combustion engine. The same compressor is used to compress the supercharging air and for supplying air to the fuel cell system. The compressor is driven by the internal combustion engine output. An independent claim is also included for the following: (a) a method of supplying an internal combustion engine with supercharging air.
