PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel oil composition for diesel engines generating few environmental pollutant due to combustion of the fuel oil, and highly stable to a rubber such as NBR used for a sealing material or the like of a jet pump in the diesel engine. SOLUTION: This fuel oil composition for diesel engines has a stability index of≥26, which is defined by formula (I): Stability Index=Aro(vol%)+5×MAro(vol%)+AO(ppm)-N(ppm), wherein Aro(vol%) is the content(vol%) of a monocyclic aromatic component, MAro(vol%) is the content(vol%) of a polycyclic aromatic component, AO(ppm) is the content(mass ppm) of an antioxidant and N(ppm) is the content(mass ppm) of a nitrogen component(mass ppm, excluding one derived from the antioxidant).
