PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an input device and a method for the same for generating an electronic ink and/or other inputs. SOLUTION: The input device can be used in combination of an arbitrary surface by using a movement sensing technology which has been improved to generate data so as to be used for the purposes related to and unrelated to the ink. Improved movement sensing is obtained by using one or more than one inertia sensors for detecting movement of the input device by measuring indicators such as changes in speed, acceleration, and electromagnetic field. The input device can include a memory for storing the motion data and a tranceiver for transmitting data for indicating the movement of the input device to the host computer. Also, it is possible to process the sensed motion data and to generate a picture for indicating a handwriting stroke by using a processor inside the input device. The input device can be formed in the shape of a pen and includes an ink cartridge. It is possible to make it easy to move the input device in a well-known way. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI
