<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a smart card reader/writer that resists a surrounding magnetic substance and practically avoids spatial increase. <P>SOLUTION: The smart card reader/writer dispenses a valuable medium according to recognized value information. The device includes a unit mounting opening formed in a substantially upright front cover, and a platelike unit case with built-in communication antennas.
