摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a negative electrode for a lithium secondary battery preventing the separation of an active material from a current collector 1, securing collecting characteristics of the active material in spite of repeated charging and discharging, having high charge/discharge efficiency, and having an extended cycle life. <P>SOLUTION: In the negative electrode for a lithium secondary battery, an active material structure including an active material layer 3 made of a silicon material and a surface coating layer 2 placed on the layer 3 is formed on one side or both sides of the current collector 1. The surface coating layer 2 is made of a conductive material with the low forming ability of a lithium compound, and the active material structure includes 5 to 80 wt.% of a silicon material. Slurry including the silicon material, binder, and diluent solvent is coated on the surface of the current collector 1 and dried to form the active material layer 3. The active material layer 3 is then electroplated with the conductive material with the low forming ability of a lithium compound.
