The light-weight building element comprises a multiwall textile fabric (1) and at least one particulate expanded thermoplastic polymer (3) which is located between the fabric walls, and keeps the wall connector threads under tension. The outer surfaces and the wall connector threads of the fabric are hardened by means of a resin. An independent claim is also included for a method for producing the proposed light-weight building element.
