PURPOSE: A flat cathode ray tube is provided to improve a productivity and to reduce a cost in results of removing a resin for uniting an anti-explosion glass and the anti-explosion glass by reinforcing an edge side of a panel concentrated to a stress. CONSTITUTION: A flat cathode ray tube comprises a panel(10) having a fluorescent film(11) at an inside surface and a non-effective screen part at an edge portion; a funnel(20) fused at a rear side of the panel, a mask supporter(30) arranged to an outside edge of the fluorescent film at an inside of the panel; a shadow mask(40) fixed to the mask supporter and having a dot or a slot shape hole; an electron gun mounted at an edge part of a rear side of the funnel and emitting an electron beam; a deflection yoke formed at a slim neck part of the funnel and forming a uniform magnetic field about an electron beam emitted from the electron gun; a reinforcing band(60) covered at an edge of a front part of the panel; and a reinforcing part formed more thick than an effective screen part by at least a first difference of a thickness(13) at the non-effective screen part of the panel.
