PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information processor and an external device making it possible to further improve a system for better usability. SOLUTION: The information processor comprises an external device detecting means; a software storage means; a software attribute detecting means for reading one or a plurality of software attributes from a software attribute storage means of the external device; a software management means for comparing the software attributes included in the software storage means with the result detected by the software attribute detecting means and for determining if the software stored in the software storage means should be deleted/updated; and a software adding/deleting means for deleting a part or the whole of the software storage means according to a request from the software management means and for reading and decompressing one or a plurality of pieces of decompression software from the compression software storage means of the external device according to a request from the software management means and storing the software in the software storage means.
