PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To recover data on an external storage device by means of a storage sub-system alone without any intervention by a host processor. SOLUTION: When writing data which a writing controlling part 10 has received from a host processor 4 are written in a storage device 1 or when data which a data synchronous processing part 12 has written in the storage device 1 are copied in a storage device 2, a recovery data preparation processing part 11 of a storage controller 5 writes, in a storage device 3, a pair of writing data 14 and writing information 15 indicating its writing position in order to save the data. When the storage device 1 is unavailable due to failures or the like, a data recovery control processing part 13 recovers the data on the storage device 2 using the data saved in the storage device 3.
