PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus capable of recognizing a degree of lamination of a cultured cell without damaging the cultured cell. SOLUTION: A ratio R is a ratioΔC<SB>NH4+</SB>/(-ΔC<SB>gluc</SB>) of time-varying rateΔC<SB>NH4+</SB>of NH<SB>4</SB><SP>+</SP>concentration to time varying rateΔC<SB>gluc</SB>of glucose concentration. A graph representing a relationship between a culturing time (t) and the ratio R has a good correlation with a graph representing a relationship between the culturing time (t) and an adherent cell concentration Xa. When a time-varying rate of the adherent cell concentration substantially becomes zero, it is considered that an equilibrium is nearly achieved between the cell proliferation in a basal layer of a multilayered culturing cell sheet and the cell release in a keratin layer, and a time-varying rateΔR (difference between ratio R in the previous time and ratio R in this time) of the ratio R corresponding to the point of this time is obtained from the graph and theΔR is defined as a threshold value KR for determining a final point of lamination, and when carrying out the next cell culture, cell culture is carried out while monitoring the time-varying rateΔR of the ratio R, and a time when theΔR became a value not higher than the threshold value KR is regarded as the final point of lamination and cell culture is stopped.
