<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photosensitive transfer material having the excellent forming property of a light shielding image and a color filter formed using the photosensitive transfer material and having high optical density and a sufficiently thick black matrix. <P>SOLUTION: The photosensitive transfer material has at least: an alkali soluble thermoplastic resin layer; and a photosensitive resin layer containing a photopolymerization initiator, a polyfunctional monomer, and a light shielding agent on a temporary support in this order from the temporary support side.
