PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection type video display device which displays high-definition videos for a long period of time by providing a mechanism for removing the dust sticking near a liquid crystal panel and polarizing plate of a liquid crystal projector. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal panel which is a light valve element of the liquid crystal projector and the polarizing plate are provided with excitation elements and in the case of deposition of the dust, the liquid crystal panel and the polarizing plate are excited to separate the dust from the surfaces and further the separated dust particles are blown off by a blower means to remove the dust from near the liquid crystal panel and the polarizing plate.
