<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a cleaning apparatus capable of cleaning a liquid-absorbing body used for dehydrating a screened raw laver by being reciprocatingly moved also to carry out pasteurization preferable in food sanitation in the production of a dried laver or the like. <P>SOLUTION: The apparatus (A1) for cleaning/pasteurizing the liquid-absorbing body for dehydrating the raw laver has a compression means (3), a cleaning liquid-feeding means (9), a pasteurizing liquid-feeding means (9a), moving means (3, 4, 4a, 6) and a rubbing means (7, 7a). The compression means (3) compresses the liquid-absorbing body (S) for the raw laver. The cleaning liquid-feeding means (9) feeds the cleaning liquid. The pasteurizing liquid-feeding means (9a) feeds the liquid having pasteurizing activities. The moving means (3, 4, 4a, 6) reciprocatingly moves the liquid-absorbing body (S) for dehydrating the raw laver so as to pass the compression means (3) between both sides sandwiching the compression means (3). The rubbing means (7, 7a) rub the surfaces of the liquid-absorbing body (S) for dehydrating the raw laver when the liquid-absorbing body (S) is reciprocatingly moved to remove the sliminess or dirt attached to the surfaces.
