<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a take-out of books without a permission, and to prevent confusion of users, while reducing a working burden required to construct a system, in regard to a book management system. <P>SOLUTION: In this book management system 1 for managing books, each of books (for example, a book A) is provided with a bar-code label 2 having the book discriminating information and a RFID tag 3 having the book management information containing the book discriminating information. This books management system 1 is provided with a bar-code reading device 4 for reading the book discriminating information from the bar-code label 2, a RFID reading device 5 for reading the book management information from the RFID tag 3 without a contact, and a control device 6 for controlling the bar-code reading device 4 and the RFID reading device 5.
