HIGH-STRENGTH STEEL WIRE ROD SUPERIOR IN COLD DRAWABILITY, AND MANUFACTURING METHOD THEREFOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-strength steel wire rod that has an improved cold drawability particularly by inhibiting the formation of inclusions which easily cause the breakage of a wire during cold drawing, and to provide a manufacturing method therefor. SOLUTION: The steel wire rod comprises, by mass% (hereafter the same on a chemical composition), 0.7-1.0% C, 0.1-0.4% Si, 0.2-0.6% Mn and 0.003% or less Al (including 0%). The manufacturing method uses a refractory comprising particles containing 30 mass% or less (including 0 mass%) Al2O3and having an average particle diameter of 15μm or smaller, as the refractory to be arranged in portions with which a molten steel contacts in the step of secondarily refining the above steel to the step of continuously casting it.
