<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an air bag in a stored state from being hindrance and to easily inflate and deploy it at a desired position. <P>SOLUTION: This air bag device has a tubular air bag cover 2 capable of storing the air bag 5 in a slenderly folded state, and its both ends are fixed to the seating section 1a of a seat 1. The air bag cover 2 is divided into three sections 2a, 2b and 2c in the vertical direction of the seat 1, and the cover is formed using stretch materials having different elongation for respective sections so that the elongation on the upside is larger than that on the downside. The shape of the air bag after the inflation and deployment can be set unsymmetrical with respect to a support point, so that the air bag can be largely inflated at the desired position. Thus, in a nonworking state, the air bag device can be stored within the vertical height of the seating section of the seat, and the air bag device does not disturb an occupant.
