PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical scanner and an image forming apparatus capable of adjusting beam positions on a surface to be scanned without having effect on various optical characteristics, in a multi-beam scanner for adjusting the beam positions on the surface to be scanned using liquid crystal elements and an image forming apparatus using the same. SOLUTION: The optical scanner for scanning the surface to be scanned with N pieces (N≥2) of light beams emitted from a light source; the scanner is provided with a plurality of means for adjusting the scanning line positions of a plurality of the light beams 21a, 21b, and at least one of the plurality of means is liquid crystal elements 40a, 40b driven by an electric signal.
